On a snowy day in the Soviet Union in 1977, Alexi Fayvinov is playing a slow temp tune in the piano. Alexi turns around when his father, Mikhail tells him in Russian, "It is time, my boy. It is time. We leave for America tonight". Katya, who is standing next to Mikhail, tells her son to "Say goodbye to your grandfather. He is too old to travel" while she is holding a bundle of clothes. Alexi closes the piano and goes to his blind grandfather who is sitting on a rocking chair. ("Barney Rubble Eyes")
- Katya's surname is listed as Fayvinova in the co-starring credits of "Barney Rubble Eyes", which is the feminized version of "Fayvinov", as Russian surnames for women are always feminized.
