The thing I'm most terrified about is the transgender community being insulted by him. It's great that the public will get to learn about a male-identifying transgender character as a lead in an ensemble show, but really, more than anything, he is for the transgender community, because they don't ever get to see him. I hope that they're happy with him, because I'm proud of him. I'm really excited for people to see who he is.

Biography

Life and Career

Zelda is the daughter of actor and comedian Robin Williams and his second wife Marsha Garces Williams. Zelda was named after Princess Zelda of The Legend of Zelda video game series. She has two brothers and her mother is of Finnish and Filipino descent.

Zelda started acting at five years of age when she appeared in the made-for-TV films: In Search of Dr. Seuss and Nine Months. Zelda appeared opposite of her father and Anton Yelchin in the 2004 film House of D. In 2008, Zelda appeared in the award winner musical film Were the World Mine, and has also appeared in the films: Detention and Noobz. She also guest starred on Teen Wolf. In 2014, Zelda voiced Kuvira in the third and fourth seasons of the Nickelodeon The Legend of Korra series.

Zelda is openly bisexual and describes herself as an athlete, video game player and a fan of the namesake The Legend of Zelda video game series, and of Super Smash Bros. Melee. She admits that The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is her favorite game and has voiced support of its release in the 3DS by supporting Operation Moonfall until Nintendo finally announced the game in 2014. She also appeared in the Wynter Gordon video for "Buy My Love" and has a cameo in the Cobra Starship music video "You Make Me Feel", alongside her father.

Zelda was reportedly devastated after her father's apparent suicide on August 11, 2014. She describes the event as her "worst nightmare" and has spoken out many times about her father’s legacy, and has also encouraged more discussion about mental health.

In February 2016, Zelda joined the main cast of Freeform's Dead of Summer as Drew Reeves.
